its the fuel tank sending unit. my 93 does the same thing. fill it up its full, drive it 50 miles it reads empty

I have a 93' also and it does the same thing. Mine hardly every bounces around tho even after i fill the tank up. Im gonna replace the sending unit in it her shortly.

I found out today when I changed the fuel pump assembly, If the assembly is turned slightly in the wrong direction the float is on a metal rod and as it rises it will hit the side of the tank and stop. I have a Used & Working Fuel Pump Assembly (Fuel Gauge works too) For sale. Catch me on e-mail with an offer W/Exchange.

my grandmother is 56 years old and has heart problems and kidney problems. She needs a kidney transplant and it is going to cost over a $100,000. We need donations even 1 doller would help. Please send trough mail to p.o box 44 Exeter Maine, to joshua porter. Then I will put this money into the safe at my grandmother hospital to pay off the transplant. She need the tranplant before 8/0/03. at about that time her kindneys will shut down. All and any donations will be thanked through a post card sent back to you.

hey ben may i ask how much did it cost for u to get ur gas gauge replaced? I know that costs very but just as long as im in the ballpark of the expense.

I just replaced the sending unit in my '91 for $90 (Canadian) and that included a new gasket/seal that goes around the assembly. So in USD that would be around $67
|

No problem, just keep in mind that that price was for parts only. I did the work myself and it was a full days work, mainly because my fuel line broke at the end of it :(
