truckin magizine tested the 2003 lighting vs the silverrado ss the lighting beat it by a full second not even close and tokendabud 360s dont put out 380hp thats way rts have 260some odd hp you need to research a little
here is the bottom line daks are the fastest small trucks ford has the fastest full size (fastest truck period)and chevy just sux

I would have to say all of you areguments come from very good perspective.I happen to own both a 2000 dodge dakota standard cab 4x4 and a 2001 ranger xlt regular cab. The dakota is equipped with a 5spd on the magnum v8 (special order 360)
Never have problems with anything but passing gas stations. Put 1160 pounds of gravel in the bed Didn't even blink. On the other side I loaded 1.13 tons of peagravel into the bed of my ranger. (5spd 2.3 twin cam inline four, mazda block) It protested bent, the frame but I still never have problems. The dodge boasts 78,554 to date with no repairs and my ranger boasts 89,400 with raplaced tailgate (i broke it)
My wife's 98 silvarado is on its 4th warrantied trans at 41,000 miles

Dodges suck compared to ford....there is no other way of puting it....Ford has more rated power than any dodge..the svt lightning which im sure everyone has heard of could take any stock dodge truck..the F-350 comes with a V-10 that would tow a house off its foundation..i personally have nothing against dodges but they sure as hell dont have more power than any ford. I drive a ranger that i have never had a problem with(not that my ranger is bad a$$)...could be luck of the draw..but i dont know a single person who hasn't had a problem with any vehicle..it depends on how you drive it..and if you drive a smaller truck why the hell would you want a V-8 ...

You can not compare apples to oranges.
Teachers taught this in grade school! Yes it is
official Ford has the fastest production truck to
date at 147mph. And for the record the HP on
the current production Lightning is 380HP not
500! That is the proposed HP figure for the
new Lightning.
Now lets compare apples to apples. Take an
F-150 standard cab with the largest engine
available-5.4 rated at 255 HP and 350ft lbs.
Now lets take a Ram 1500 standard cab
again with the largest available engine-5.7
Hemi rated at 345HP and 375ft lb. Do the
math, Dodge wins.
Jason, people have been buying small
vehicles with large engines since the pony car
days. And they will continue to do so because
they have a right of choice. I like big engines in
small vehicles simply because of the fun
factor, others have their own reasons. If you
don't like this concept then don't pick the
largest engine plain and simple. And as for
Dodges not having more power that Ford what
they hell are you saying? Both the SRT-10 and
the Lightning are speced as having 500
horses. The difference is the increased torque
from the Dodge. Humm

well i really dont understand how you faggots could drive a fuking dakota i really dont find them that great looking but thats just me but fuk that issue. I picked up a 1993 Ford Ranger XLT standard cab with a 2.3 4 cl 5spd and it had 150,000 when i got it and i got sick of the 4cl only place where i agree with u dodge guys they have more power but bros u can drop a 1986 mustang 5.0L 302 V8 in a ranger and trust me it puts out mad power especially with the K&N intake i got running and my Flowmaster American Thunder Series exhaust. did i mension i have it slammed with a 5/6 drop with air ride bfgoodrich low profile tires and 20' Enkei wheels and an award winning kicker sound system!!!

My Pop's had a late '90s extra cab Ranger at
one time, and that is all it took. You could have
put a Honda vtec 4 banger in it and would
have been impressed by the power increase
over the stock 2.3L!

Back to the lightning as a proven fact ford can't make power without supercharges. 3.8 supercoupes, SVT mustangs, lightnings. and their v-10 don't make me laugh their v8 powerjoke is bigger (the old one). To compare apples with apples lets take a ram 1500 hemi and put on the kenneybell 518 horses. put that up against a lightning. Even if dodge is less reliable they are still a whole $hit load easier to work on. I am a technician and have you even tried to work on a ford? it calls for 3.6 hours to put plugs in a new 5.4. What a joke. The also have stupid nakes for evey thing. What we call the intake air temp. ford calls the charge air temp. If you have a tire vibration ford calls it a 'nibbel' if the steering wheel is straight when going straight it is 'clear vision steering' no mater how you slice it it is still one friggen up pie.
On to the silverado SS. plain junk. 15.8 in the quarter. 'nuf said.

Lets compare apples to oranges, I have a dakota with a v6 and i went to the truck pulls and put it in with the 1/2 tons and pulled 198 feet the ford ranger that pulled 2 truck after me pulled 112 feet. And i would like to let you know, dodge won the 1/2 ton class, anddddddd the 3/4 ton class where is the ford ? well i seen one proud ford owner picking up his drive shaft! www.truckpulls.com

I personaly HATE ferd. see can eaven dare to spell that word
i am going to supercharge my 2002 gmc sierra so i could beat that truck i am shoure with no doubth about it that i will smoke that so called fastest truck. from the bigining.
or i will just buy a new chevy ss and super charge it. isint that what ferd does is supercharge and supercharge some more thats the only way they make there cars reach the speed limit.

'Jhon' (since thats how you spell you own name...) first off i like the start how you were dissin 'Ford' but um.. you shouldnt be talking id rather have a ford than a GmC Sierra.. holy sh*t dude.. second off the lightning supercharger isnt that great of a supercharger in fact its the worst ever made and the truck is mostly engine... now where we go dissin ford is the part where .. well price.. quality, and well who needs a lighting when the dakota r/t has been invented... you wanna talk about a Ford dont own a chevy.. cause i Hate chevy, and Ford has got you beat there.. I'd own a ford before a chevy,and I'm guessing if your a complete idiot it would take you 3hours and something to change the plugs in a 5.4. My father nor I have ever had that problem. Whats your excuse? Besides your payed hourly and take your sweet ass time?

Um i get it done in a little over an hour falt rate calls for 3.3. they are a total bitch to do compared to almost any other. And yes i do get paid by the hour i get 3.3 wheter it takes 1 or 5. Guess you don't know how flat rate works whos dumb now? BTW lets look at the ford problems mainly egr multiple runners (one for each cylender) clog with carbon pain in the arse to clean out. The tauras has a terrible DPFE sensor and lets not get started about their brainchild the areostar. 5 hours for plugs in a v6 stupid ford. Oh yeah lets start copying dodge's bodys to. 95 ram went streamlinged. 97 ford followed suit. 01 ram big panels, squared off front end, big grill. 04 ford followed suit. 01 ram only the 1500 changed. 04 ford only the 150 changed. For a company that makes such a good product they seem to be stealling everyone's ideas.

Its either a Dodge or Chevy. The only area a ford is good in is their powerstrokes. A Chevy 350 Vortech is a strong and Durable motor! The Hemi Magnum is another well built power plant! Nuff said.

well MoJo all that i know is that ford sucks. if you race a f150 and a sierra ill bet you that the sierra would win. fords cant even do a burn out my friend owns a f150 and that truck can eaven burn ruber and mine well min is another story mine makes alot of smoke and fast so yea i know people that own ford and guess what they all have changed to chevy so thinck about it MoJo whats a better truck. and about the RT i like dodge trucks becasue they are good and strong something that ford isint but the new chevy ssr will probably bet the RT
