Message: ok, i know someone can help me. I'm reading all these forums and have been seeing a lot of people having problems with there mods. I have a 2002 3.9 5 speed and starting some mods. I started with an airraid intake and i swear it made it run worse!! I reset the computer too and let it re-learn itself. Was not happy with that and took it out. Then i made the ram-air conversion that everyone seems to be talking about, ran tubing from the air box out the front flap at the radiator, put a K&N drop in in the air box. Plus i'm extrememly paranoid about water getting in there, that goes say to with a cold air intake too. Doesn't really run any better, and now it feels like it is missing when you step on it, it stumbles alot and the dealer said nothing is wrong with it. I don't even know if i want to do anymore mods. I wanted to do an exhaust system, throttle body eventually, cap and rotor, wires, plugs, you know all the good stuff. But i'm really afraid its gonna run worse and the dealer won't want to touch my truck after all those mods!! Does anyone have dyno proof with and without any of these mods? I'm tempted just to put all the factory crap back in for the airbox and say screw it!! Your input would be greatly appreciated. Would flowmaster delta series give you any performance increase or just sound good? Thankyou

Message: when you do small mods one at a time you can't expect to feel much of a gain until you start putting more and more mods together...this is just a guess, but i don't think that your intake made your truck run worse...you just expected to "feel" a difference and when you were let down that you didn't "feel" it, you then took it to another level and decided not to use it using the excuse that it made your truck run worse...if you really want to feel the hp from the mods, then buy them piece by piece and then put them on all at once...the only bad thing is that if your truck does develop a problem then you won't know which mod to start checking...my suggestion is to complete your air flow first...intake,throttle body (not spacer), headers, high flow cat (cuz i think that yours still has the O2 sensor behind the cat...i could be wrong), and a good flowing exhaust...put all of these on together and you will definately feel a gain...
hope this helps your confidence,
brian

Message: I think you thought that your mod didnt help you is becuase you reset the computer. It takes between 300-500 miles for your computer to fully reset. It will run and feel a little worse until it fully kicks in. Another thing is that you have to wait a while until the filter gets a little dirty for it to really start driving nice. I would put the intake back on if I were you and just wait it out. For your first mods I would go with...the intake, and exahust, and a computer chip. Worry about the Throttle Body and headers later. Also a good MSD Ignition system and plugs and wires will work wonders for you too! Goodluck

Message: hey guys thanks! i know you won't feel a gain by just one mod but the fact that it has been stumbling when i accelerate was worrying me a little bit. i think at most i'll do an intake and exhaust until the warranty runs out. Then complete the rest after the warranty. I should have gotten a 4.7, drove one and they got a ton of balls, but i do like my 3.9. who is the cheapest to go through if I want wires, cap, rotor, etc. thanks
