Subject: Looking at a high amp alt IP: Logged
Message: I want to put in a high amp alt and was wondering if this would hurt the PCM since one wasnt originally installed? It came with the 90 amp but I am having some undercharging due to the ASP pully. I no longer have the original crank pully so the cost of a new belt and pully would be at least half the cost of an alt.

Message: Are you sure to culpurt is the pulley? Check the alt. first, the pulley will only affeck charging at idle and even that is minimal. I've suffered no ill effects with my underdrive pulley.

Message: The system is puting out 13.02VDC at idle, and 14.20VDC at anything above 1100 rpm. I dont think its the alt because it is charging. I just checked the electrtolyte in each cell of the battery and it in the fair rang of the tester. The battery is a brand new 750cca sears diehard. The truck starts every time , but I have been having little things (electrical) going on like my new fuel pump started humming a few months ago and I have intermittant misfires. No codes though. I am thinking the lower voltage may be affecting the motors and coil. Ive checked for grounds to. I cannot stand the dimming of lights sitting at a stop light or while waiting to pick up the wife at work.
