3.92= higher towing capability, higher gas usuage, better for traffic light races! 3.55 is the opposite of this.

I bought my 2001 CC 3.9L in July and the one I got was from a dealer in Michigan (I live in Ohio) so I didn't get to order it. It had all the options I wanted except it had the 3.92 rear end. The gas mileage isn't too bad, but could be better with a 3.55. I get about 16-17 on the interstate and around 14 in the city. I expected higher than that with a V6, but the rear end does take a little away. Pulls a trailer great tho!

About the only thing I have noticed with my 3.92 rear end is the lower gas mileage. Like i said in my earlier post, I only get around 16 or 17 on the interstate, and you would probably get 17-18 with a 3.55 rear. You would probably notice no difference in the ride of the truck, other than maybe a little quicker off the start, but not much. I like it because I do a lot of towing between my three-sled snowmobile trailer, and my 19 foot ski boat, the V6 with 3.92 really does well pulling it. Hope that helps.

ive got the 3:92 in my v6 4x4 i have a fiberglass bed cover on it too. i have done many long raod trips in it and ive managed 19.8mpg once, i usually get around 18 on the highway, 16 around town

If you were asking me, I don't live in Michigan, I live in Ohio. My truck was delivered from a dealer in Flint, MI. I live in NW Ohio so it wasn't that far of a delivery.
