 Subject: speaker cutting out

anyone have a problem with their speaker cutting out. the right door speaker will cut out & then come back on again. anyone have an idea what can cause this? bad connection? 98 dakota sport 3.9.

try checking the connections on the back of the speaker if you have a loose connection on one of the female connectors it will have continuity only part of the time. I suggest snipping the connector right off and solding them on directly. That way you know for sure you have a good connection. If that doesn't work, replace the wiring harness behind the deck. It's easy to do and inexpensive. good luck

If it's just the door,it could be the wiring to the speaker or the plug at the speaker. Use an OHM meter to test the speaker. Should be 4 to 8 ohms on the resistance scale. This could be a good time to upgrade the door speakers too.
