Message: 7000 RPM?
Egads... I've never run mine over 5500, mostly because there isn't -crap- for power above that. I really don't think 7000RPM on a stock engine is anywhere -near- safe. These are American truck V6 engines, not little Honda 8000RPM 4-cyl 'ricer' motors for little 2-door 1500lb cars.

Message: Hey pup, if for some odd reason your dak is auctally able to get over the factory redline of 5250rpm with out exploding do you have to rotate or repack your muffler barings every 3,000 miles. Or do you have to constantly have to refill your headlight fluid, because I would really love to know how your truck will do 6000-7000 rpm.

Message: oh yea that 5speed is bad ass brough you can be running in odrive and push that baby off and haul some ass i never would have thought a v6 would have so much power.but still with 130,000 this bitch wiil run its nothing but a stock engine imagine if yu was to hoop that babe up?probaly run about 150 are better huh?.i need to ask a question about this engine for some reason when it idles its got a crazy claddering sond the people i bought it from said that it did not do that until they changed the air compressor they did it their self and said he thinks he tightend the pully to tighti think it could be binding the motor down causing that sound.i know it is not the valves or rods i had it checked outand said it wasent nothing what do you think

Message: hey i got a 97 dak and it rd lin's at 6000 i havent had to get it that high because of the power it puts out and it is factory as well at 5000 its at about 120 and after that it shuts off but the power is a force to be reconed with for a truck its too light though

Message: ok id luv to see a 3.9 hit 7000 on the tach and still keep the rods inside the block...ive got a 99 and if i remember right the red starts on my tach around 5500, and the tach stops at 6k know i know some of the tachs for the newer daks stop at 7k, but im not sure what motors have those dashes.
i have had mine up to 6k but i have to mash it hard and hold it...then when it hits 6k itll shift, im not sure what is keepin mine togeather...although i still think my 3.9 has the soul of a hemi :)
as for only doin 110 and tachin 6k?? sounds like your motor could use some help....cuz mine is only tachin 3200-3500 and 110, its been awhile since ive done that so im not exactly sure. i try to keep from runnin mine todeath cuz i plan on usein the same block when i rebuild it, but i do know that i was no where near 6k when i hit 110

Message: MadMaxx,
Heh, mine too. My tach ends at 6500, but there is -no way- you'll see it up there unless I've done some major work to the bottom end... like getting the crank balanced and blueprinted, stronger rods and wrist pins... not to mention getting a better timing chain and stronger springs in the heads. At that RPM, those valves will be a-floatin...
I'm considering using my block instead of buying a new truck and building a 318. I mean, heck, this little V6 has been so darned -good- to me that it'd almost be a shame not to reuse it...

Message: Without a cam change and some head work, power fall off sharp after about 5500 rpms. You want to shift where you engine makes the most power. If you want top rpm that the engine will run at, well that's a different story. If you tach up to and beyond 7000 watch out for flying parts.
