What We Know: Like the Durango, the upcoming Dakota has been successfully kept from prying eyes, so very little information is known. Expect the same engine lineup with the addition of the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 for the R/T version

The new 3.7 liter V6 and the 4.7 liter V8 will be the primary engines for both Dakota and Durango. But the best news is that Dodge's new 5.7 liter HEMI V8 will be available in both vehicles.

In any case, the redesigned Dakota pickup will appear for the 2004 or 2005 (probably 2005) model year, moving away from the Ram in appearance and toward the M80, while losing some size and weight to differentiate itself from the Ram. The engines will be not-surprising, the 3.7, 4.7, and maybe the Hemi.

according to truck trend there is no talk about putting the hemi in the dakota... but the new redesigned durango will get it with a SRT sort of package.
