 Subject: 1990 Water pump

I am replacing a water pump on my 1990 dakota 3.9L and I am stuck. I don't recall the postioning of the timing tube plate on the bottom of the pump. Could anyone PLEASE HELP?

IF you describe it better (I am no mechanic and have never touched my water pump) and it is visible from the outside I will check my truck as I have the same one.

I have a 1989 3.9L truck, and I replaced mine a year ago, and I dont recall a "timing tube". Can you post a pic, or further explain what it is and what it looks like???

The "timing tube " that you are talking about goes pointing up on the drivers side of the pump. (the side where your power steering pump is) there are 2 bolts that fasten it to the engine. It is the 2 lower bolts on that side.
