Message: Hey, I have a 2000 Dakota and I was intent on changing my plugs and wires today, I got the wires done with out incident but the plugs dont want to move. I tried when I got home when the motor was hot and they didnt budge, than I tried about an hour or so after and the plugs still didn't budge. I was wouldering hom huch pressure I should be using. I have done this on atleast 5 cars and never had a problem, any insite would be most helpful.

Message: I can usually get them out with a 1/2" drive ratchet without too much trouble. Try spraying them with penetrating oil and letting them sit for a while.

If you still have the factory set in you will most likely break some of them off, make sure you have some air to blow the bits out from around the plugs before you take them out. Factory Tq spec is 30 ft lbs I tightened one of mine and checked it to be 20-25 ft lbs that's the way I left them. I broke 3 off on mine, get yourself some of those mechanics gloves they will help save the skin.

Message: I hate changing plugs... It's well worth the change, but man, its annoying. When I bought my 91 The plugs were damn near rusted to the motor... that was a job and a half.

Message: I'm with GenIII on this one, only I only broke the ceramic on one plug. If it is your first change, it is truly a pain, but, with a little Mopar Love you'll get 'em out. Penetrating oil always works well, just don't over do it!

Message: The f***ers were rusted in place, I ended up teking it into a shop to get them removed. It took them well over an hour and ran me $65. I replaced them with Autolite 2924 platnum. The up side to this all is that I found out that I still get my discound in advance auto parts.
