Message: "the lower the number on the gear equals better mileage but slower acceleration? is that the way it normally goes?"
THe lower the ratio, means that you are slower off the line in terms of acceleration. However, when you start coasting on the highway-- you will get better mileage because your vehicle is not trying as hard to be a "bad ass".
When your ratio is higher, say 3.86:1 or even a nice even 4:1... you will be a big burly bulldog off the line-- this helps you accelerate and not really notice the weight your truck is lugging around. But when you hit the highway with that ratio, your MPG will suffer.
With a 3.4:1 ratio you might do 1800 rpm's at 65mph. With the 3.8:1 you will be pushing 2100 rpm's at 65mph. With the balls to the wall 4:1 ratio you'd be lucky to stay below 2500rpm's trying to do 65mph.

Message: Im still trying to figure the great milage mystery out. I know one thing my truck dont like 87 octane much, works best on 89. (unless its SUNOCO!! LOVES SUNOCO). I own a 2001 4x4 3.9 with the 5 speed, 3.55, regular cab, i now have 123,000 miles, and i bought it new. At one time i remember getting 350 miles to a tank on average, but that was traveling 105 miles round trip to work. now that im closer to home im lucky to get 290 to 310 to a tank. im using stock tire size--215/75-15 at rated PSI, I use 10w30 (Shell Formula) during the cooler months from late october till early march. originally i used 5w30 in cool weather, and the 10w30 in warm, until about 90,000 miles now i upgrade to 15w40 shell rotella during warm weather. smooter running, and holds up for 5000 miles. i also use Purolator oil filters--they make the MOPAR filters. right now im trying to slowly upgrade and tune this mean old mustang killing bastard, alot of things are still original. it does have a K&N drop in, and BOSCH platinum 2 spark plugs. other wise its a black plane jane truck (I Like it that way). the original muffler is starting to come apart, the pipes are solid, ill get a 40 series stainless Flowmaster, new cap and rotor, a throttle body lifter plate, o2 sensors, complete fluids change, and maybe a seafoam engine oil flush. we'll see what happens

I am a representative for MPG-CAP. To give you guys the skinny, it is a $2.00 tablet that you put in your tank at every fillup. It does not CHANGE your gasoline like an additive, rather it goes with your gas to the combustion chamber where it is deposited on valve faces, top of the cylinder, and spark plugs to make the gasoline burn more completely and give you more HP and better MPG. The first 2 or 3 tank fulls you want to use 4 tabs per fillup as a loading phase, then you drop the dose to one cap per 20 gallon fillup. People using the product, like myself, are getting anywhere from a 10-30% increase in MPG. A blister-pack of 10 costs $19.95 plus shipping.
If you are impressed with the product and you want to sell them as well, you can sign up as a rep. too. This IS an young MLM business and these tabs have been sold since late 2005.

Message: So let me get this straight.
For example, let's say we all get 18 mpg on average. You say the increase in mpg by using these "tablets" can increase your overall mpg by 10-30%. Let's go 1/2 way and say it boosts it by 20%.
So again, we get 18mpg on average, and this tablet will boost it up by 20%.
20% of 18mpg is 3.6mpg. That's basically 3 and a half miles per gallon boost.
If the package costs $19.95, and you get a total of TEN tablets, then the tablets bacically cost $2.00 a piece.
In essence, if we toss a $2.00 tablet in our gas tank, it will get us 3.6 extra miles per gallon.
We could do that.
Or we could be smart about it, and just spend that crazy $2.00 dollars on 2/3 gallon of gasoline (assuming gas cost is $3/gallon). If we are getting 18mpg, then by using $2.00 to buy 2/3 gallon of gas, we boost our mileage by TWELVE miles per gallon! (12 is 2/3rds of 18mpg).
Makes more sense to use our hard earned cash on some extra gasoline-- whilst getting MORE mpg our of it--- then this snake oil. (snake oil, see "waste of money."

Message: Sorry, one oversight on the post.
THe tablet gets you 3.6 MILES PER GALLON boost, buying 2/3 gallon of gasoline gets you TWELVE TOTAL MILES boost (to the tank).
Maybe it could be worth it if it wasn't for that "Loading Phase" where you gotta dump them in 4 at a time.
Still, assuming this is like most other products, it just may deliver the minimum of what it claims it can do.
If it only gives a 10% boost, we're getting 1.8 MPG boost. On a 18 gallon tank, that's about 35 TOTAL MILES EXTRA, give or take.
If you stick with the plan, do the arduous loading phase, and then continue with the simple 1 tablet used at a time thereafter, it could be worth it.
But knowing my luck, it would yield me 1% increase and the rest of you would get 35% increase.

Message: Jeep Liberty,
Here I was all ready to give it a go, figuring with a warranty what to lose?
I'm a courier. I'd know in a couple days if anything happened.
Logic trumps guarantee.
