would i tell a differce if i were to have my heads redone and put back to factory specs. tonight i got waxed by a dakota w/a v8 all stock except dual exhaust. i have a polished throttel body, homemade 3" ramair intake, 40 seris flowmaster, and 208,000 miles. the miles are from being pulled behind my grandparents motorhome and has never been over 60 mph. till i got it. mine and the truck i raced are both 94' 2wd dakotas swb. i need some cheap fast power under $250. any suggestion would be nice.
p.s im putting the bottle BACk on it to race for a $100 bill next friday night. a 50 shot.

but i need some advice on some cheap easy power to out run a stock v8 dak.

thanks

whitedakota i gotta a v6 3.9

You would notice a difference if you had the heads ported and polished and posibly even larger valves installed. It's not gonna happen for only $250 though.

yeah, that isnt cheap easy power. I wouldnt expect a 200,000 mile V6 truck to beat many V8 trucks out there with your few mods. There really isnt much you can do for that amount of money and if your budget is only $250, i probably wouldnt be ragging on that motor too much because it will cost a LOT more than $250 to fix.

the motor has about 60,000 on it and the tranny has about 5,000 miles on it. the miles are from being pulled not ran. i had the tranny rebuilt and a transgo shift-kit installed along with the highest stall converter that i could find to fit the A-500. so the motor has been babied my grandparents drove it only at the campsite they camped at and the miles are from being pulled. so the motor shouldnt be hurt. and i was just wondering what mods could i do with $250,like a throttel body or something like that and how much power would i notice. also my cousin is the manager of Auto Tire & Parts so the head thing isnt no biggie. i just need to know what to do to them. im only 17 and that is the spare change that i have from christmas.

so what do you prefer that i should do???
also would relocating the iat tell a difference?

thanks and give some advice

atleast get the heads shaved, i'm doubting that you can get a port and polish job done for under $250, but if you can then go with the port and polish, if neither of the above is possible then try the injectors and the ignition...
i'm not sure if FMS 19# injectors off of a mustang will work on a '94, but if they do, i'm sure that you know someone that has upgraded the injectors on their mustang, or you can probably get some from a junk yard for around $50 (it's about a 20 min install on my '98), and a MSD 6A for around $149, those two should give you a few more horses
hopefully this will help, but 75% of racing is all in the driver when it comes to the V6 vs. V8

good luck,
brian

ps. if you do spend the 250 and say that you do lose, then where are you gonna get the $100 to pay the guy???

i wouldnt worry about a port and polish. If you can get a good deal just have the heads redone with a 3 angle valve job. Look at the exhaust port on the number 6 and 1 cylinder.... there is a lump of extra casting which can be removed with a dremel tool or the like. That is about all you really need to do.

A better mod would be the throttle body. Get a V8 throttle body or an aftermarket if you can find one cheap enough.

btw, sorry i didnt respond within 8 hours... will adjust my schedule to fit yours ;-)
