I got a 2003 4x2 dakota and I want to raise the front end 2 inches. Someone was telling me that I dont need a lift kit, and that I can make some adjustments to the suspension and then have it realinged? Anyone done this or have a idea?

I had a 1991 Nissan 2wd that i lowered about 2inhes in the front. I had a truck shop lower the torshin (my spelling sucks here but it sounds like tore-shin) bars on both sides and got a reallignment, and short shocks. The truck drove fine after that. It was cheap Tooooo!

Yeah you can crank up the torsion bars a little to make it sit higher in the front. I know on most fullsize trucks you can crank them up 2 inches without a problem, i'm not sure about the dakota though.

u have a 2wd it doesnt have torsion bars

you have coil springs

the only way to lift your 2wd is to put taller spring on it or put coil spacers from a company like daystar

The other alternative is to get a body lift kit. Prices for these for ONLY the kit is about 225-250 USD. Unfortunately there are no suspension lift kits for the 2WD Dakotas due to the differences in the front suspension from the 4WD. At least that's the story I got from our local 4WD parts center...
