Message: anyone know why there is such a drastic fuel mileage estimate between the auto vs. manual. on the sticker, manual is 15/21, auto is 18/19. is it just the transmission or other factors? what is your average mpg? thanks for the info!

Message: I have a 2000 3.9L 5-speed and I seem to get about 19/24 for the most part. It's really a combination of the transmission and other factors, computers are fine and dandy but I've yet to see one that can shift as good as a person who's good at it. It's one of the reasons they don't drive for us yet, they can't think ahead to see that big hill we are heading towards, or the traffic...

Message: I have a 5 speed. I get anywhere from 18-22 with a Quad Cab, My neighbor has a camaro with 6 speed manual & 5.7L. He gets about 19-27 mpg. He told me his tranny will not let him shift into 2nd & 3rd with light trottle pressure. I heard Audi's have a auto CVT that shifts better than manually for better milage. I prefer a stick on the floor. I don't like the column shifter crap. Yeah, I know manuals are a dying breed but that is about 10-15 years down the road.
