Subject: Power steering pump... resevoir needed? IP: Logged
Message: I got stuck in the snow and while trying to get out, i fried my power steering pump. I just bought a replacement pump with the resevoir but i'm not sure if i need that one or the one without the resevoir... Any comments? Also, any tips on making this job easier would help. Thx.

Message: hey you moronic little twerp, the only people that drag this down are the ones that ask stupid questions then get pissed cause someone tells them to think DID the new one come with a reservior already on it?? if it did you should not swap it as the seal between the pump and the reservior WILL BE DAMAGED in your amaturish attempt to change it.If you gotta ask on here you are an amature as a pro already knows. WTF is a asspickle? you gettin off on fruit boy?

Message: Sorry slopehead, we're not all nascar watching hicks like you and know everything there is about mechanics. Why would I condsider myself a pro at being a mechanic? I know enough to get most jobs done and I never said I was an expert. How many brain cells do you have left from your daily Busch beer binges? F*cking trailer trash.

Message: Oh and why would I swap out the resevoir on the new pump with the one on the old? Are you that much of a moron to even condsider someone doing that? I've never changed a steering pump on a dodge before... they come with or without a resevoir and I wasn't sure if i could swap the old resevoir. I now know that i can't and I bought one with the resevoir.
Here's a translation for you. I dern slopped up da hogs paw, when can I go gets me another beer? Hey lookie here maw, my truck aint on duh cinder blocks no mo, I be living in a double wide now.

Message: Cow, im sorry i didnt see your post earlier, i have been working on my truck a lot and been going hunting a lot too. Anyways.....
I consider myself a bit of an expert when it comes to the power steering pumps on the Dakota. I have changed 6 of them, all in a two week period. I just kept getting one shotty rebuild after another. For future reference, dont go to Autozone for power steering pumps, their rerbuild are worhtless. I finally got a good one from Advance(used to be Western Auto). If i had found this before I would have told you, get the one with the reservior, it is a pain in the ass to swap it, and is not worth the time. If you have anymore questions about the installation, let me know and i will try to talk you through it. After the first couple went bad, i started to get really fast at it, i could pull the pulley and have everything running aagin in about 25-30 minutes, i could even be done with the cleanup. Let me know if you need help. Later

Message: Thanks Texas and crip for the backup. :P I finished the job about an hour ago and so far everything works great. The most time consuming was pulling the pulley off and finding the right sized wrenches for everything. I'm not an expert mechanic like many on here, I am a hobbyist and appreciate the assistance.
I saved myself 350 dollars doing this. :)

Message: My Dakota makes a very loud noise when I'm driving over bumps, it's not the shocks (brand new). I think it may be the pump or hydraulics from the power steering. If I push down on the right front it make that noise. Any suggestions.
