The boost pressure is from the throttle body down. The airhat is only exposed to regular atmosphere pressure.

when the motor is under boost... everything from the turbo/supercharger to the pistons is under boost. Yes, get an aluminum air hat.

By airhat you mean the air cleaner assy. right? Doesn't the air come in through a filter then through the turbo or supercharger then into the intercooler and straight into the throttle body?

no, the "air hat" means the plastic piece of crap that sits on top of the throttle body.
