Subject: ive got the best exhaust setup --honest IP: Logged
Message: the best sounding exhaust with the v6 starts with buying a flowmaster 50 series muffler, single in dual out. Then get the air to come out of 2.25 inch dual pipes, with the long style 3.5 inch tips. Then when you think your truck is'nt loud enough take it to a guy with a mig welder and cut-and-gut your cat conv. but make sure you leave the cat body on(it makes for a beautiful low tone).
my girlfriend with a 98 ram w/a 360 magnum and dual glasspacks doesnt sound near as good as my dak does.

i am gonna have to disagree with that.....
i have jba header on one side, custom header on the other going to a custom crossover that leads the gases to a TB0301 Turbocharger. From there it gets expelled via a 2.5 exhaust with only a 10" long gutted cat in the way. And it ends about right under the front of the bed.... ;-)

Message: easy there.... it was just a joke.
i agree... the gutting of the cat does make it sound a WHOLE lot better. Since thats all i have on mine it kinda sounds like a one chamber flowmaster. My dad had to say "sounds as about as good as a V6 can sound!" of course he has a 2000 camaro Z28 with SLP y-pipe and SLP loudmouth exhaust.... kinda puts most exhausts to shame.

Message: Hey , it's been a while since i've been on here.
Neil,
Hey i've put about 1100 miles on it since the cat was gutted and it hasn't tripped any warning lights or made it run bad. In fact it pulls MUCH harder in the midrange area, ALOT better. And now I could actually hear it from the sidewalk when my mom drove by me. In my opinion it was well worth it. Oh yeah, at raised my gas milage from 18 mpg in town to about 19mpg in town driving. Highway driving went up from 20 mpg to 22 mpg.
And to dbcmaster, the only people that do any kind of emmision test(a.k.a. sniffer test) is the cops, when you are stopped at the "hang out" place for us kids, but when i see a cop i jet out of there FAST, so they never get to hear me, let alone smell me.

Message: Ok, i got to jump in and throw in my two cents... I got it running out of the manifold into a 3" Carsound Cat, then into a single in, dual out, 40 series Deltaflow Flowmaster muffler (50 sounds too ricey for my tastes) then dual out the back into 16 inch long 3.5" tips. I have had more than one cop tell me he thought it was a V8. One was so interested in what i had for the exhaust he crawled under the truck and I had to show him the engine to make him believe it was a six. Plus, with the 5 speed tanny, i can get that baby to rev way above the automatics shift points, that helps a lot too!

Message: Ok, can somebody explain the term "cut and gut your converter"??? What exactly does this do, only thing i'v done to my exhaust was switched my factory muffler with a Ravin' muffler, it sounds awesome but what yall are saying about cutting and gutting your converter will raised mpg and better performace and such, i may be interested in this. Please explain this and like how much it would be to get it cutted and gutted. Thanks!

Message: i think the reason your girlfriend's exhaust doesn't sound good is b/c she is using glass packs! chuck that crap and get a real muffler. maybe a 40 series flowmaster or even a one chamber. that would sound much better!
