 Subject: Thermostat just went

The thermostat just went on my dads dakota as I was filling up the tires. What should I replace it with. 180 or 190 degree. This pisses me off. If it isnt one thing its another with his truck. Oh by the way it is 3.9 V6 5 speed

get a Robert Shaw Gen2 180 degree t-stat sold at most AUTOZONE stores. Part number #GT755-180

If you live in the northeast or a cold climate use the 190, If out west in the heat use the 180. I picked up a heavy duty Stant because the robert shaw went in only a three months.

Well I ended up getting a Stant 180 and I put it in and started the truck and coolant just started leaking all over the place. Either I didnt put enough RTV or I didnt wait long enough for it to set up. Oh well Im off to Discount Auto to get another gasket
