My 98 Dakota with 3.9 idles around 700 rpm. Usually more like 690 though. Most people here are usually averaging about 650-700 RPM.

Depends on auto or manual tranny. My manual used to idle at 600 it idles at a little over 700 since a replaced the belly pan gasket.

A thing I noticed on my is that the gauge is a little off. Mine showed around 550rpms but my uncles mac scanner read 690-700.
