Message: Getting it done friday! I listened for the cheap way out. I'm a poor high school student and my auto tranny doesn't like to shift. I am having the fluid changed and the two sensors replaced.

Message: Monkey,
Make sure you get the old sensors back too. Especially the one that has that magnetic peice on it. Sometimes all the shops do it clean off the magnetic peice and they put it back in and charge you for a new sensor, VERY BAD! But if you trust your shop then you shouldnt have to worry about it. I understand the college situation, I start my loan payments next winter. So i better get the dakota runing better before then lol :) Let us know how you make out!

Message: just a funny experience ,i have 96 dak with 5.2 a518 46rh tranny ,it has 240000 miles on it without a single problem since i bought it new, the first thing i did when i bought it on 1997 i installed an oversized tranny cooler half size the rediator (huge) ,then in the back 2 months my radiator went bad so i sended the truck to repair, when i drove it out of the radiators shop i ran like 20 miles and the transmission was destroyed took the truck to aamco they rebuilded the tranny and in the first 30 miles the tranny was destroyed again i took it back to aamco they repaired again and this time it lasted 40 miles and destroyed again ,then took it back again they repair it again and told me that ,the oil cooler was plugged hehehe and the the rediator guys bended the line so i took the aamco review of the transmission failure cause to the radiator guys and they paid me the transmission so now i have a new transmission to go another 240000 miles :)

Message: I would like to let everyone know that if they have problems with thier trucks while under warranty and the dealer fails to fix it properly; after the third try you truck could be covered by the lemon laws. I learned the hard way. I made many trips to the dealer to fix a sloppy transmission shift problem while the truck was still under the factory warranty. I was never fixed properly. Now with 65K on the the truck, the sloppy shift has grown to 2nd gear complety gone - slips like hell.
The result - the dealer says it will cost $2500.00 to fix it! What the @#$%^$#! Stick to your guns if you have a problem which is covered under warranty! Call the Chrysler Care number and pinch a fit! Or else....

Message: Ok boys, let's see if you've heard of this problem!
About 2 months ago I had my 2000 dodge dakota(manual, v6) fixed because it was popping out of first gear. It took many visits back to the dealership and then a copy of the technical service bulletin that listed this problem before I could get it fixed under warranty. Now I am having problems with my truck not shifting into gear at all!! It has happened a total of 5 times where I will start my truck up and it won't shift into 1st, reverse or anything. After letting my truck roll, pressing in my clutch, turning my vehicle on and off, after about 10 minutes I am able to get it to finally engage into 1st gear. Today, for the first time, it actually was having problems going into gear while I was on the move and then when I finally reached a stop sign it was totally stuck and wouldn't go into gear at all. Again, after about 10 minutes of playing with it and trying to get it into gear, it finally did.
Any thoughts?! I could really use some advice before I call the damn dealership again!!!

Message: Hi
I have a dodge grand caravan 2000 and have just been told it needs a transmision overhaul after 47000 miles! No warnings, it just got stuck in first gear with fault codes P0731 and P01790, the speedometer stopped the exact same time. Thought it was a speed sensor but they said it is not. Dont know what to believe. Do I just take their workd for it and pay $2000 they quote? Is there a way to be sure short of opening it?

Message: 2002 3.9 with auto transmission,28000 miles still under warranty. Read enough to realize that the auto trann sucks in cold weather. but what about the o/d shifting to soon or not down shifting when going up a hill. The thing loses 10 mpr with out ever kicking out of o/d
