Message: I got lucky in my case, my friends dad gave me the K&N out of their 96 Camaro SS and it fit perfictly! But I think the retail price is somewhere between 40-50 bux.

Message: K&N airfilters don't die. When they get dirty you simply buy the cleaning kit for about 10 bux and the filter will out last your truck, that is unless you rip the filter. They also flow a lot more air meaning, more air = more HP. It seemingly also gives you some more throttle responce, but this does make for a great long term investment. Regular airfilters are like 10 or so bux (never had to buy one), and need to be replaced every so often, pretty much when ever they get dirty. K&N = good

Message: If you use the drop-in (Filtercharger), the only noticeable difference will be in replacement; you will never have to replace the K&N element again - just clean and re-oil it (this is how I started).
BUT, if you replace your air filter box, hose & hat with the K&N FIPK (fuel injection performance kit), you will realize slightly-better performance - and I mean slightly. Speed costs money; how fast do you want to spend?
Keep in mind, there is little, if nothing, you can do to your V6 to get better fuel economy; You will only be able to wring more power (at the expense of mileage).
Use our site's search tool for more info on modding your V6 - there is an abundance of information and experience out there!
If you do a lot of freeway (speed) driving, a tonneau will give you measurable results.
WARNING: going with the FIPK triggers dreaded UDS: Upgrade Dependency Syndrome ;-)
Most of us "suffer" from this sickness - okay, we're not suffering, just our spouses...

That's where I started at, then muffler,V8 TB,Crower 1.7 RR's
But I think I have found a cure for lack of power.....see thumbnail hehehe..

Message: i more or less have resigned myself to the lousy gas mileage. in fact, i was aware of it before i bought my dakota. but, after seeing the truch & driving it i couldn't resist taking the plunge! i'm not sorry, it runs great, is a beaut & i get plenty of compliments on the truck. 98 dak. sport, reg. cab, v-6 auto. now i gotta convince the ol lady on the merits of a tonneau cover.

Message: Got one. Used for several years. It's a bunch of wishful thinking. Always someone out there wanting to take your money, promising you the moon and stars in return. Save your $$. Been watching the gas mileage computer. NO difference with or without. Power, again, matter of opinionated wishful thinking. I say none. Save your $$.
