Subject: ABS and E-Brake Light IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 V6 3.9L Dakota and on my way to work today the ABS and E-Brake lights came on and stayed on. I checked the fluid and for leaks so was not worried about it right now. But after that my speedometer will only work up at 25mph and up. Once it gets below 25 it drops to zero and if I am stopping when I push in the clutch the RPM drops and the truck dies. I have to restart and it seems that when the speedometer drops to zero below 25 the truck wants to die. Any ideas on how to fix I dont have a lot to spend on this thing right now. This is the second problem first was the Cat went out at like 15,000 miles.

Message: its the speed sensor on the rear diff...
easy to install and takes only 10-15 minutes
with usal hand tools. The dealer will hit ya
with 2hours of labor!
Pick the part up at your local shop, jack the
back of your truck up so you can sit under it
and get to work.
its simple to do....
I did it!
now you know thats..................

Message: Thanks Sic I will pick up the part and see if that fixes the problem. It is always good to save some money that you dont have from the "Dealer".

Message: Just for the part I was unable to find it anywhere else when I was looking in Corpus Christi last year though things may have changed. Dealer only charged 35 bucks though not too bad

Message: I have a similar problem but it's not the speed sensor. I raised my truck 6 inches and put on 33 inch tires along with a smaller gear (4.10). Also put on an Abbot box from KRC Performance, to correct the the speedometer to the correct speed since the dealers here in S. California won't deal with it because of larger tires. Well now the truck runs great, better than it ever has but the ABS wants to go off everytime I stop. The RWAL valve, which controls rear anti-lock brakes just goes nuts at every stop. Turn the abbot box back to a 1 to 1 ratio (Abbot box off) and of course it doesn't do it anymore. Any ideas as to either overide or disconnect the ABS system without geting the ABS light and brake light. Don't really want to pay the dealer $300 for another one to fake out the system. Greg
Wouldn't want any other!
