Ok I have a friend who says his 94 S10 V6 4.3 with K&N intake and flowmaster can do a 6-7 second 0-60. Is that possible?? if thats true then its probably faster then stock dakota V8s cause low 6's is like the lightning's 0-60??
what do u guys think??

Has to do more mods than that. My last S-10 did about a 8sec run 0-60 and all i had was flowmasters and a K&N.

thats what I thought but he says thats what it is and my other friend says its true.
the thing is really small and dropped but i don't think he has an mods other then that.
hard to believe. guess i'll have to race him and get embarrased in my much heavier 4x4 CC V6 lol......but he wont oh well

he 0-60's in 6-7 seconds in his wet dream..don't you think if a chevy s-10 would 0-60 in 6-7 seconds in a 6cylinder with intake and exhaust i think that a lot of people would rather have one of them...just like people saying they get 20 mpg around town with chevy v8's...it's called..exaggeration..and the lightening has 365 hp..do you really thing a 160 or whatever hp s-10 could match that? i think not....

i don't know whether that is true or not but his trucks curb weight is 2700 lbs(it was on the door I saw it with my own eyes) that is at least 1000 less then most daks. starts with 185 hp...adds customs flowmaster and K&N cold air.
could be up over 200 hp
boxster weighs the same amout(slightly more) with 217 hp and a lot less torque((2.7 V6) 192ft# vs (4.2 V6)250+ft#)
0-60 in 6.6
add one second for auto and cause it aint a porrsche and u come up with mid 7s(8 at most)same as a 2wd V8 dak auto
can he beat a V8 dak with it... i doubt it but no way in hell does a stock V6 have a chance with that big of a weight to power difference

the one i reced..it was an older model..like 92 or 3...but it had the 4.3 liter...my truck weighs about 35-36oo lbs..from what i've looked at in websites..and magazines..i'm not sure of my gearing..i think it's 410..but i have my doubts..it was a rolling race...but we were at about 30...once my truck gets out of 1st gear..its pretty quick...but oh well...

A stock S-10 with a 4.3L will do 0-60 in 8.0 sec with a 15.8 1/4 and thats not the even the high output 4.3L. A stock Dakota with a 3.9L has a 11.8 sec 0-60 with a 18.7 sec 1/4. Why don't you guys check specs before you start dissing everything. How many of you have driven or ridden in a S-10? For those of you with V6's, especialy older ones with an auto behind them, you probably couldn't even take a 2.2L S-10 with a 5 speed, beleive me I have a 92 dak 3.9L with an auto.

Ok I know a guy who has a 2000 reg cab extreme with the 4.3 and he has his on the ground with a flow and intake and a chip and he took me off the line because I have no tread on my rear tires anymore but as soon as 2nd gear kicked I took him for the whole race all the way to 110.

I would have thought you would take him off the line with 3.92's. But I don't see how you guys can beat a lighter truck with more hp and tq and better airodinamics, unless it's the driver of the other truck. It just blows my mind!

you have to look at when each engine makes its power....the power curve can have a lot to do with it.....just cause they make 185-190 horsepower (depending on year) doesn't mean they are always making that......that could just be their peak..... maybe the 3.9 makes more power throughout the whole rpm band.....
yeah, you would think with the 3.92s you would take him off the line.....

hey guys I know that I said that I have no tread on my rear tires so thats why he got me on the line I was spinning. I have to admit the S10's do feel lighter but thats just because they are cheaper made see who takes a hit better their are 27 newer s10's in the local new junkyard and their isn't a single dak because they don't get crunched by just about everything.

the one i raced wasn't an extreme..it was an old s-10 4.3...they had to in the years i raced..one that was 160 hp and some high out put that had 200...i'm not sure which one i raced..but i beat him... i get my max peformance at 4800 rpm..and the dakota that does 0-60 in 11.8? is that a newer one..i bought a thing from dodge...and i a read review on my year dakota..claiming 0-60 in 8.3..i don't know the quarter mile

Jeremy, those figures were for a 99, 4x2, 3.9L, manual with 3.21's in the rear end. The auto had 3.55's and it did 0-60 in 12.6 sec. Hey Ll Blackdak, my 0-60 is now low 8's, I've gotten better at launching and the color grey I got adds 15hp.
