Subject: cb antennas IP: Logged
Message: i am looking to install a dual cb antenna on the bed of my truck next to the cab. can anyone tell me where i can get the equiptment to do it, and what is the best type of antennas to buy.

Message: those dual antennas are really meant for semi trucks, something about having them too close together makes them have harmonics that tend to cancil each other out, thus reducing your transmitter's range. They really need to be about 8/9 ft. apart, wich means they will stick out on each side. I use a Wilson 1000,it can handle 3000 watts and when I installed it the swr was almost 1.1 : 1 across all channels with the highest being 1.12 : 1, not bad for just putting it together and attaching the stainless whip and taking a reading. (almost perfect) I found the Wilson for $50 at a cb shop at a truckstop. Some swear by the K 40 brand also, it is mostly, at this Hi end, a matter of personal preference.
