 Subject: JBA headers VS. V8 Throttle Body

The question I have is what will give me a better performance increase? The JBA headers or the V8 Throttle body (48mm). The current mods I have on my truck are: Kenny Bell cold air intake, High flow cat, 3inch Vortec cat back exhaust, Jet stage 2 module and 3.91 gears. Also for you guys with the headers and/or throttle body change did you notice any change with them?

I have both but I can't really tell which had the bigger effect.
The TB is certainly a lot cheaper (used TB: $ 50.-, JBA: $ 500.-) and a hell of a lot easier to install. The TB can be put on in one hour or less, while the headers can really cause you a serious headache. I had broken studs from the old exhaust manifold and one is still sticking in there...
So, while both mods are certainly a good thing to do, I would go with the TB first and think about the headers later.

To be honest, you really need both. I found with my JBAs, that I actually lost a little bottom end until I got the TB upgrade. And, you don't have to spend $500 on them, I bought my stainless shorties off ebay for $250. I've been looking for a V8 set since I bought my 360 project engine, and I see them on there fairly often

Everyone thanks for the info. I've found the JBA headers for 342.65 off of truck performance. I can get the TB for about 220.00. I'm going to go get the TB first since its cheaper and it seems that you get a little more performance out of them. If anyone knows where i can get the parts at a reduced price please let me know.

Don't spend $200 on a TB!!!!!
My friend bought the pricey ported and
polished one, and doesn't really get any more
performance from it than I do with my $75
stock V8 TB. The larger bores on the V8 will
show you a great improvement... ebay gets
them pretty often for around $100, also I think
some of the guys tried carparts.com.

I have both the F&B 48mms, and a few stock V8s.
Name your poison! The F&B performs better, and doesn't require a cable change. 30 day return policy on the F&B--you don't like it, return for a full refund.
Stock v8 tbs are used, cleaned up and ready to go w/ new tb gasket.

No - Zaurusman got the Flometrics one for
$250 or so. He has driven my truck too, and for
the money, I think I got the better deal.
P.S., Sorry I missed you last week, I got there
around 3. Billy and I went to look at that "field
cuda" I found, but he thinks it is too far gone
for me to restore :(
