Subject: 50 amp fuse in PDC IP: Logged
Message: I own a '01 Dakota and a 50 amp fuse is blown in the power distribution center, which is located next to the battery. This fuse is for the power seats. I do not have power seats and I suspect I have a short to ground. Has any had this problem and how did you fix it. I have narrowed the problem down; I believe the short is between connector 246 and 248. Connector 248 is where you would plug in the power seats.

Message: I found my problem. I had to reach under the carpet on the driver side and pull out the connector for the power seats. I found a mashed wire with exposed copper. It looked like it got mashed under the frame of the seat when it was installed at the factory. It is funny how a short to ground for an accessory I do not have can keep your truck from running.

Message: Well, at least now you know that if you ever -want- power seats, they won't be too hard to install! Just bolt and plug them in!
