 Subject: Muffler Install

Well I finally ordered my new Dynomax Super Turbo muffler part #17748 and installing it on Saturday. I wanted to thank DakotaDan and pbxr for sharing about their experience with this part. However, when I install this thing, do I want the center outlet towards the front, or the outstet outlet towards the front, or doesn't it matter?

I'm running the offset as IN and the center as OUT , the DynoMax will flow either direction
This was as close to the factory setup as I could get. In fact if you have a CC you should only need a short (4") piece of 2.5 in/out pipe to make up the difference of the factory muffler

Hey that's great, just like me hehehe.....
It is not hard if you have access to some tools !
First off I wasted 3 hrs trying to save the factory muffler (why I don't know ) that thing is crimped on really tight. Remove the factory muffler clamps and save them if you can, then get yourself a Sawzall with about a 6-8" blade on it and right up next to the body of the muffler as close as you can cut the pipe and drop the muffler out, WoW that took about 10 min. Now you need to remove the sleeve part of the muffler that stayed on the pipe ends, I used a Dremel and screwdriver but a hammer and chisel would work also.
I re-checked the measurement of the piece that I added it was 5" not 4" long as I said earlier.
Go to AutoZone and see if they have a coupling that is that long (5") it will need to be 2.5 in & 2.5 out I got what they call a Tailpipe piece it was about 15-18" long and 2.5 in & 2.5 out I cut this to fit the #17733 I used first then later cut it to the 5" for the 17748 I have now. You're going to need 3- 2.5" clamps and or 1 hanger to replace the factory one that is part of the muffler. I made mine out of 1/2" steel rod (from TSC) cut to fit across the factory rubber hangers, then I cut a piece of 1" wide and 1/8" thick steel to fit between the 1/2" rod and one of the muffler clamp bolts on the pipe I used 2- 1/2" collars with set screws to keep the rod from sliding out of the rubber hangers. After everything centered itself I marked the position of the 1/8" steel piece on the rod, removed it and welded it together. It's been trouble free for 12k miles

Doesn't sound too bad, even though this will be the first time I'm working on an exhaust, that's why I'm asking so many questions.
BTW, do you remember how much the extra pipe cost?

If I remember right about $10. for the 15-18" piece. Just make sure you cut off the right end (the 2.5 out) and not the inlet side or you'll be getting another one. Yes I got in a hurry ;(
I had about $20 in parts, 1-2.5" clamp, the steel rod & bar stock and tail pipe.
