Subject: What does it take to equal a v8? IP: Logged
Message: OK, I know im gonna get a whole bunch of flames and stupid answers (try and make them funny at least!) But i was just wondering what mods other then supercharger and turbo would it take to make the 3.9 equal the 4.7 or 5.9.

Message: Go to speedtweaks.com, Bernd has a table showing roughly the packages he has available for the 3.9 and estimated HP gains. That will give you an idea at least.

Message: K&N FIPK intake and somehow enclose the filter. 48 mm throttle body or v-8 throttle body conversion. Autolite plugs, msd coil and maybe the ignition box to go with it. Change the pulleys out, 1.7 rocker arms. Jet stage II chip. Transgo shift kit. JBA headers with either a Dynomax or Flowmaster exhaust. And it'll deffinately show improvement, but as far as beating V-8's, I'd say 50/50. Greg
Wouldn't want any other!

Message: If your talking about stock 230hp I would get
1)a port job done on the heads, mill the heads to bump up the compression a little
2)a cam with a duration around 210@0.50 lift.
3)50mm throttle body
4)flash your pcm or a chip
5) normal mods (shift kit, tq converter, 3" cat-back, headers, intake, etc.)
Those mods should put past the small v8s in power.
