Message: Has anyone had any trouble with their Steering Gear? I have about 3-4 inches of play in my steering wheel and I can not get rid of with any amount of adjusting of the gear. Everything from the Pitman arm out to the tires is tight. I believe the steering gear is worn. I have never replaced a steering gear on any vehicle I owned and would love to know what I am about to get myself into. Thanks for the help to those who respond.
Message: I put a new pitman arm and bushing on my 1994 4x4, that was the source of the play in my steering. the bushing was shot, and you have to replace the complete assembly. it was like 30 bucks at a local part store. but it was a huge pain to do, i had a pitman arm puller, but i ended up using a torch to get it off. hope that is any help.
