Message: Just replaced my old spark plugs...had a heck of a time due to the difficult location and tight spaces...the metal cylinders around the plug caps seem to have just gathered lots of mud, dirt moisture...how in the world are you supposed to change plugs without getting crap inside the engine?...Eventually I got them all changed but one doesn't seem to be in as far as the others....don't know what to do...seems to run ok...any advice/help appreciated...thx

Message: I have changed the spark plugs in my 97 Dakota several times and do not remember having one seeming to be farther outset than the rest. Obviously if you are unsure, unscrew and reseat the spark plug in question. Never over tighten a sparkplug. As far as not getting any debris into the cylinders, thats just a matter of being careful. This was definitely on my mind every time also since the layout of the manifold and heat guards is just asking for dirt to fall into the cylinders. Your best bet is to let it run a few minutes and then change the oil after replacing the plugs. Hope this helps.

Message: I usually blow out the area with compressed air before i pull the plugs out. Obviously you want to keep the cylinders as clean as possible, but if a little falls in its not the end of the world.
