Message: Hi Bernd. Could you tell me if the stock injectors are 19lb.? If so, would it justify spending money to upgrade them with the mods that I have? Thanks! :)

Message: Hey lesley! I just asked bernd about this a couple of weeks ago. I am pretty sure our stock injectors are 19#.
I am thinking of upgrading also, since I have pretty much the same mods as you do. Bernd recommended FMS (ford motor sports) 19# because they give a more consistent flow. I hope they are quieter than the stock ones cause those damn things are loud! That clicking noise is annoying...
At any rate, with the mods you have, FMS 19#'s would prolly be a good idea. You can grab em at summitracing.com for about $200 US. Have a good one!

Message: There was an injector post on moparchat and this is one of the posts.
"I read the following from the Q&A section of the April 2001 Mopar
Performance News:
Q(5) I'm working on a fuel-injected combination and my dyno program shows I could benefit from more injector delivery. What can you tell me about flow rates of the injectors in your catalog? Also, if you have the factory injector rates would be very helpful.
A(5) You should step up the injectors in something like only 25 percent increments. The production V-8 is 24 - the MPP package is 30! Remember that you must change the computer if you change the injectors; at the least, it must be reprogrammed with the new injector values. Injector rates are not as easy as one might think, but they go something like this:
Engine Years Flow rate in lb/hr
Neon ( All) 23.9
2.5 Magnum 91-95 17.4
2.5 Magnum 96-01 23.2
4.0 Jeep 91-95 21.4 (Equivalent to Lucas 5207013 )
4.0 Jeep 96-01 23.2 (Equivalent to Lucas 5208005 )
5.2 Magnum 92-95 18.2
5.2 Magnum 96-01 23.2
5.9 Magnum 93-95 24.5
5.9 Magnum 96-01 23.2 (Seimens/Chrysler P/N 53030778)
---end quote---
Note that about 1996,
when the engine PCM computers went to the OBD-II standard,
all the Dodge fuel injectors went to a 'common calibration' of 23.2 lb/hour.
But before 1996 the 5.2 had stock injectors that are so much smaller that Ford SVO injectors usually give problems.
There are lots more posts on fuel injectors on MoparChat that can be found with a search.
Do not keep repeating the falsehood that the Magnum injectors are "19 lbs per hour" that has grown to be an "Internet Legend" that was never true. Look in the table above - no injector is a 19.

| RE: Bernd: Fuel Injector Question IP: Logged
Message: The stock injectors are around 19#. The reason for the different numbers is that Dodge overdrives the fuel system pressure (49psi +/-5psi)...which is where you get the higher numbers. Standard injector flow ratings are done at, or close to, 45psi...not 49-50psi where our trucks run at.
On the '01+ models, those are 21# injectors, overdriven to the 23# mark. You can replace those with the stock injectors from a Lincoln Navigator...those are true 24# SVO injectors. (They're a direct bolt-on.)

I told him about how they fit Daks, and I didn't get a bid in on time before they were gone (could had them for for $90). Now I see he adviertises them for 3.9V6 Daks. Smart guy, knowledgeable and helpful with quick e-mail responses. I'll probably buy a set from him for my Dak.

Message: Virgin needs help on FI!!
Now that I have your attention let me begin by saying I have a totally stock 98 5.2 with 60k and I've done a few searches about FI or more importantly injectors and I'm in need of some info about replacing the stockers with what looks to be FMS #19's by what I've read so far. Note: Do the injectors wear out or cease to function properly over time?? If i understand the procedure correctly I am to bleed off fuel/pressure via the schrader valve, disconnect injectors, remove the 4 bolts for the fuel rails and slowly remove the rails with injectors intact, remove the 'C' clip for each injector and lightly lube the new injector before reinstalling in reverse order. Question: Does anyone have the complete FMS part #. Is there anything I've missed??
sincere thx dana

Message: (1) Have them cleaned with the solvent added into the fuel rail (professionaly cleaned) first.
If this doesn't help out on performance, then it's time to change them. The FMS 19# injectors are easy to install...takes about one hour at most.
