I had the blaster coil I got rid of it after it messed up my coil pick up and crank sensor. I didn't see any improvements in it after installing it. I learned that hard way.

I'd recommend doing just about everything else that you want to do to your truck before you do anything with the ignition, except for maybe a set of good plug wires. Unless you're going to go mod-crazy, ignitions are a good place to waste money. Definitely read the link that Dan posted...

I wouldn't put an MSD ignition box on with a Jet chip. On mine the MSD box and the Jet chip were trying to advance the timing at the same time. It created a big conflict with the PCM. Sometimes it would just die for no reason. I still use the MSD Blaster coil and haven't had any problems with it yet. Greg

Wouldn't want any other!

And just to add Dakota Bob has a 94. Little different from what I hear the 97 and newer trucks are ignition wise.

Wouldn't want any other!

everything you need comes with the MSD. They do make a harness you can use to reduce the cutting of the factory harness but its not nessesary. I have the 6AL on mine and personally i wouldnt waste the money on that harness.

the msd doesnt advance the timing. The timing is controlled by the pcm and the msd hooks up right before the coil. It just adds multiple spark below 3000 rpms and one hella spark above 3000 rpms.
I have the msd 6a ignition box. If you havent ordered yours yet, call summit racing and ask for one for an odd-fire engine (v6). Yes, there is a different one for that. The standard does work on our v6s but the odd-fire is better. I also have the msd 8.5 wires (could choice.. never burn), and the blaster 3 coil. I had the blaster 2 but it fell apart on me. I used all of this with a Jet II chip for a long time with no problems.... even used 75 shot of nitrous with it. I got rid of the jet when i bumped up the juice to 100 shot.

That's good IntenseDak39. I wish mine would have worked with my MSD 6 Offroad, but it didn't. When I went to the dealer to find the problem the MSD did change the timing. It showed it on their machine. It showed the timing with both Jet chip and Msd, then just jet chip, then just MSD. The MSD does change your timing some. I only wish it would have worked with mine.
