Message: Would an aftermarket muffler like a magnaflow or flowmaster muffler actually make the truck perform better or just sound better? I have a 3.9 automatic.

Message: YES...
An aftermarket performance exhaust lets the exhaust from the vehicle flow out at a much better rate than from the stock exhaust.

Message: DakotaDan has had a 17748 Super Turbo on his V6 for quite a while, and he says that he likes it very much. I just put one on my V6 about 2 weeks ago. I had a Magnaflow stainless on it, and, while I very much liked the way the muffler was built and designed, I didn't like the sound, so I switched it out for the 17748. So far, I like the way it sounds better than the Magnaflow, but not by a whole lot. It's nowhere near the same class of construction as the Magnaflow, though...Wal-Mart compared to Saks 5th Avenue, you might say. You don't say what engine you have, but there isn't any muffler that'll make a V6 sound good at all RPM's...much closer to ricer than V8. If you've got a V8, you should be pleased. I would've kept the Magnaflow if I had a V8...I'm sure that combination would've been very sweet. I don't like the design of Flowmasters, so I didn't even consider them. I'd definitely do Dynomax over Flowmaster, IMO..
