Message: The K&N intake kit is probably the best but also the most expensive. This is one area where you get what you pay for. The other intake kits such as airaid and the others are good but the K&N kits supply a smoother air flow giving better performance.

Message: They do but not CARB approved and for 5.9L engines. PN 57-1517. I think this will fit since 3.9L is a 5.2L with two cylinders lopped off. I installed a Volant Intake for 5.2/5.9L engine on my 3.9L. I had to bend the bracket a little to make everything line up. Good luck.

Message: K&N 57-1509 will work if you don't have cruise control
00-01 trucks
If you have cruise use 57-1517 it has the bracket to relocate it to make room for the cold air shield
I have photos of it installed on my 3.9 i can e-mail

Message: Guys check K&N's site for more info. you can get photos and the instructions for the kits
www.knfilters.com/fipkinstr.htm
Just remember K&N sells these for the V-8's thats what the HP ratings stated are for but they will work on the V-6's with very little mods.

Message: I just ordered the intense performance intake. The price fit my budget($120). The k&n is probably better but I'm not building a race truck. I'm sure I'll be happy with it.

Message: The KN-1509 is for 1997-1999 models.
The KN-1517 is for 2000-2001 models.
These are actually for v8 engines but will fit our 3.9's with slight modifation(technical tweak) to the heat shield. Some people have had to relocate their cruise control while others have not. Using these on our 3.9's does void the CARB Cert. of the Intake Kit (like we care).

Message: I had to do nothing to my heat shield to make the kit fit. I installed the kit without tightening everything to make sure the parts fit. The intake tube is not centered in the shield hole but no problems getting it through. The only pain is the rubber hose that attaches to the intake, it fits but its very tight. I highly recommend this intake and have had no problems with it.
