Subject: Cold Magnaflow sound? IP: Logged
Message: Hey does snyone else have a single in single out magnaflow in place of the factory muffler? When mine is cold it sounds kinda crappy like its pushing air or something. Sometimes i think it might sound bad at high rpms too? I know it sounds good in the cab but outside I sont know, anyone else notice these things sounding a lot worse when they are cold?

Message: I had a 2 1/2" single in/single out stainless Magnaflow on my V6. I took it off a week ago. I had it on the truck for about a month. I never noticed any sort of "pushing" sound, or that it sounded worse when it was cold...it just sounded too ricer-y to me ALL the time. Since then, I've found out that there ain't no such thing as a muffler that won't make a V6 sound non-ricer-y, unless it makes NO sound at all...i.e., STOCK. I have a Dynomax 17748 Super Turbo on it now, and it's barely tolerable, in my view. It seems to have gotten louder in the 200 miles since it was installed.

Message: MINE IS A '92 2WD AND HAS A HI FLOW CAT & SINGLE 3" GIBSON CAT BACK SYSTEM ON IT. HAS A DEEP THROATY RUMBLE, DEFINENTLY NOT "RICEY". COULD BE A LITTLE QUIETER FOR AN OLD MAN LIKE ME BUT SOUNDS & RUNS GREAT.
