When I am starting off I can fill my gear shift move about 3-4 inchs untill after 3rd gear. Usally if i baby it start off really slow not much of a problem. Only when I put some gas to it.

I think it's a transmition mount has broken.
It's a dakota sport club cab V6 3.9L 5sp manuale. Rebuilt trany. I have 138,380 miles on her. Other than this bother some problem it runs fine.

I would say motor mount first, but do look at all mounts. IMO it does sound like one is bad.

It is more than likely your driver's side motor mount. This seems to be a common problem with Dakota's. Mine's broke right now was a matter of fact. I've just have been driving it real easy. I'd change it, but it's kind of a pain to do. Another tip, when you replace it, I'd recommend getting a good one, maybe even going back to the dealer to get it. The cheapy ones that Autozone sells aren't worth a crap. I've already broke 2 of them.

Hey... Lets get someone to make us Polyeurethane mounts and have a good qaulity mount system. Hey but its prolly all three mounts the tranny and the two motor mounts. I break them all the time... Its not that hard it takes about 15 minutes per side if you jack the bottom of the motor with a hydraulic floor jack to hold the motor in place.
