Subject: Clear liquid leaking/didn't use air con. IP: Logged
Message: I've had this problem for quite a while now with my 2000 Club Cab Sport V6; there is a clear liquid leaking from the underside of my truck. What most people tell me it's the condensation from my air conditioner; funny thing is, I never turn it on. It is a pretty good amount of fluid that leaks from the bottom (I would say liters). I checked my coolant level and there is not one drop in there. I took it to the dealer and they ended up replacing the thermostat housing gasket. The problem went away for a month and it's back. What can be the problem? HELP!

Message: Is the coolant low again? For piece of mind i would go back and have them presure test the cooling system for free to make sure they didn't miss a leak or screw up the new gasket they installed. However your coolant shoul be a greenish color (or whatever dodge uses now) but it shouldn't be clear. Here's another thought, on some vehicles the a/c automatically comes on with the defroster. The blend door is set so that it doesn't blow cold air into the truck but it dehumidifies the air to clear your windows, so maybe the a/c is running after all?

Message: Do you run your defroster often? If you do then thats your problem, your defroster uses your AC system to dry the air from the cab before it heats it. If you dont run your defroster let me know, i have a few mor ideas.

Message: Hey thanks for the info about the defroster guys. That's pretty interesting and it makes a lot of sense. The weather has been very humid here lately and I guess that is why I have so much liquid dripping down the bottom. I actually keep my defroster on most of the time just because it seems to disperse the air more rather than having it come right into the cab through the adjustable vents. As far as coolant, my truck's is green. For a moment I thought the coolant and the dripping fluid had a connection. Jon, I had just filled up the coolant reservoir so I'll see what happens within the next few days. I'm going to have those guys at Dodge run the pressure test like you recommended when I bring it in on Monday. Thanks and I'll keep you guys posted.

Message: Alright, I just got my truck back from the shop and they reported no malfunctions and that everything was running normal. I took a look at the liquid that had dried up on my garage floor and rubbed it with my shoe; the stuff is greasy and slippery. The dealer says that it can be the washer fluid spilling but I would think it would spill as the truck is in motion, not while it's parked. I'm going to take a sample of the stuff and bring it to the dealers for them to determine what the clear liquid is. Does anyone else have this same problem?
