Subject: double roller ?? IP: Logged
Message: ok, i have searched old posts and found many "how to's" on the timing chain replacement, but I would like to know what brand Double Roller yall used, where you got it from, and how much you paid. Is there any difference between brands? And, how much did yall pay for the tensioner from the dealer? Just so i have reference and know if im getting screwed on it. Any info is greatly appreciated!
p.s.-- and yes before anyone says anything, it is my own choice to use a tensioner with a double roller, i have already read all the arguements for and against it

Message: Marty @ KRC uses the CompCams double roller chain alot in his shop. This is what I have. He tells me that the JP Performance double roller chain is the best, but is on back order.
Can't help you on the tensioner (stock on a 2000).
While you're replacing the timing chain, why not add a new performance cam if you haven't already done so? :)

Message: Well, the one thing about the cam is the money, and another is i dont know much at all about cams and grind and duration, and what is aggressive and what is mild. My main concern is gas mileage loss if i upgrade the cam... but i am very interested in that idea, seeing how it would be really easy to do while the engine is apart.
Oh, i went to KRC website and cant find anything on timing chains. Do they have the best prices on cams too? And do you remember the CompCams part number... was it with the timing gears also? Thanks for your help!

I was just twisting your arm about the cam! Marty is very knowledgable when it comes to Magnums, he can suggest a cam to suit your needs. If you're close enough to Pflugerville, why not see Bernd? He can hook you up with a cam and timing chain.
