Subject: Auto tranny shifting issue (maybe)
IP: Logged

Message:
My '98 4x4 (that I bought last Tuesday and have put less than 300 miles on) might have an issue that I read about on this great board.

Sometimes the 2nd to 3rd shift will rev the engine to about 3000 rpm's before shifting, and the trans seems to be slipping when it does it. It seems to only do it sporadically, when the engine is warmed up. Most of the time it shifts fine.

Is this a possible problem with one of the speed sensors in the trans that I've read about? If so, How much does the sensor cost and how difficult is it to replace myself?

I bought the truck used, so it was "as is". I don't know the maintenance history, but this Dak is extremely clean and appears to have been well cared for.

Any insight that you can give me is greatly appreciated!!!

John
