Subject: did run but.................. IP: Logged
Message: My buddy has a 97 dakota rc 3.9 v6.
After school yesterday we kinda raced to town.
We then pulled in the car wash and talked for a while.
His truck died when he got on the brakes to pull
in.
He then started it up and it was fine.
Later on that night we were ridin around town and it would kinda sputter, then it would straighten up.
It only seemed to do it when he hit the brakes to stop, or turned real quick.
That night he went home and parked his truck in the drive way on a hill. He went to start it and it wouldn't start.
His dad said it was the timing chain????
But i said no, if it was the timing chain, it wouldnt turn over just fine,it would spit and backfire, and etc.
Anyways when you put two and two together,
doesn't it kinda sound like a dead fuel pump?
IF you turn the key to the on position shouldn't
you be able to here the fuel prime up??
any help would be great/
