Subject: cap and rotor, how to replace
IP: Logged

Message:
I have the msd 6a and blaster 3, when i am driving my truck seems real sluggish from 1k-3k and then once it gets to 3k it pulls really hard even under mild acceleration.

I think my cap and rotor need to be changed and
was wondering how hard it would be to change them. Not really sure where they are located either.

thanks

It's a pretty easy process. Your distributor is located at the rear of the engine. To make things even easier, be sure to number your plug wires before taking them off your distibutor cap.

your distibutor is located right behind the throttle body. In order to change the cap and rotor, first, remove the airhat, you dont have too but it makes it alot easier. Then remove the plug wires, and like mightydak said, number your plug wires, that will save you alot of hassle later. Next remove the two philips screws, one on the left, one on the right. pull off the cap and the rotor button is right there. TO remove that just pull off. To reassemble just reverse this precedure.

might be a good idea if you're going to do it yourself to buy a haynes or chilton book for $14 at the auto store. It's got pictures and will save you alot of grief and money.
It's got a picture of the distributor and that should help.
