Subject: need an opinion.... IP: Logged
Message: I just installed the F&B 48mm throttle body on my 2000 quadcab. I already have JBA headers, Airaide intake, MSD 8MM wires, and a Dynomax 3" cat-back exhaust. My question is...Would it be worth the money to change my exhaust back to a
2 1/2" cat-back to gain even more low end torque or will I not notice any difference now that I have this new throttle body? I am estatic with my new found performance from the TB. Just curious if I can make it even better. By the way last performance mod to be done in the future is a set of 1.7 roller rockers.

Message: Reading your post reminds me why I checked and double checked before I did any mods.
The 3.9 already has the same size exhaust system (2.5") as the V8's so with 2 less cylinders it should breath out fine with just a full flow muffler to help.
All the reading I did on headers and cat-back systems steered me away from them, I put my money on Crower 1.7 RR's they wont hurt or help your low end, you will start to feel them around 2500+ rpm
I would say the best route with the mods you have would be 3.92 gears for the rear, this will get you up in the power band a little quicker.
Also if you just completed some of these mods give your PCM time to learn, mine took about 300+ miles after I did my TB

Message: Thanks for the input. I thought about a 3.92 gear for the rear but what would that do to my highway driving? I do travel quit a bit and this is my daily driver. I also know that it will take my PCM some time to figure out this new addition. Anyway, I know I will never be at the same performance as my brothers RT but my goal is to get my truck into the 16's at the track on engine alone. Thanks for any other input you can give.

Message: Your mpg will suffer some with the 3.92's
I get 22-23 with my CC on the highway and 17-18 most of time, I have 3.55's
I'm going to guess your Cat-Back system came with a Sport muffler maybe about 14" long, if you get a chance check to see.
When I changed my muffler I started with a DynoMax #17733 Sport this muffler is 14" long, after about 2k miles I got tired of the buzzzz at around 1500 rpm so I changed it to a #17748 Street this muffler is 20" long the first thing I noticed was the low end TQ was back, longer muffler more back pressure : )
