Subject: click on/off sound? IP: Logged
Message: Hey all,
The other day I noticed a click on-click off sound from under the hood. It's cold outside, and the thermostat is on hot, A/C button turned off, so it's not the compressor.
I turned off everything in the cab, radio, heater, etc. and listened. I opened the hood, and heard: click, hisssss, click. (about 3-5 seconds between clicks, hissing noise very faint). It was a repeated on/off cycle.
Any ideas??

Message: Is your heat cool setting in defrost mode? Even when it is off if you still have defrost set the compressor will run.

Message: joe is right. Mine does the same thing when in defrost mode. It's so you get warm dry air on the windshield. It works very well. The light by the aircondition switch will not be on in this situation.

Message: Mine does that too, but it's at more like 8 second intervals. Wanted to post this before, but I thought it would turn out to be something really basic and I would look dumb :)
I popped the hood, it's the foremost wheel & belt by the radiator.

Message: Well, I took care of the "look dumb" part. Turns out it was the defrost.
