Message: This would be a great chance for better gears and maybe a posi. You have the 8 1/4 rear, if you could find a 9 1/4 with maybe a 3.92 gear, it would be a strong setup. But if money is tight, a better ring and pinion would be fine too.

Message: A good place to pick up a Ring and Pinion Set is for Randy Ring and Pinion the have AWESOME prices and good turn around time. We used Axles from him on our Racecar and they lasted a whole season and not one problem plus to boot they were only $40 each.

Message: You might want to take it apart and see how bad it is. If it just needs some new gears i agree that Randy's R&P is the best place to go, they are cheap, have good products, and the guys answering the phones know there stuff.
If it really blew apart and screwed up the bearing surfaces you might want to head to a junkyard, you can probably get a whole axle for $75 and its a lot easier to install than gears.

Message: I replaced a gear in my 91 Dakota, got the part from Dodge and had it professionally installed for $450.00 I checked junk yards for a new rear end and they wanted $650.00 Good luck. Fortionately mine gave me a warning signal for about 1,000 miles. As I accelerate hard I heard a clunk, clunk clunk sound.
