Message: I understand the concept that a cooler running engine makes more power. But why does most everyone run a 180 deg. stat instead of the 160 deg?
Oh Yeah just installed the autolite 3923's much improved over stock one of the best mods I have done yet!

Message: I understand Magnum engines run best from 180°F to 185°F. People say that a 160° t-stat may trip the MIL. I would think that it would cause the PCM to think the engine is still cold, thus keeping it from entering closed loop mode correctly. It may think the engine is too cold for too long, thus tripping the MIL. I'm interested in knowing more about this question myself...I'll have to keep an eye on on this thread.
