I've got 110,000 miles on my '98 Dakota 4x4.
Power and fuel mileage have been good. The
truck has a 5 speed manual trans. and I can
pass cars going up hill, however I only get
18mpg. I would like to know how to modify to
get higher fuel efficiency. I was reading that
some guys are getting 24+ mpg.
The truck has been great with a few
exceptions. The complaints. The truck is in
right now for upper and lower ball joint
replacement. Costly maintenance, but at 110k
miles I think the repair was due. The other
problem that doesn't want to disappear is the
A/C. It blows hot air. I had it serviced twice
last summer and I need to do it again. Let me
know if anyone has a similar problem with the
A/C and how to improve my fuel efficiency.

I have 183,000 miles on my 1988 with a 3.9L. No problems still going strong. Still has original clutch and tranny.

I have 130,000 on my 93' V6 auto ext. cab. Still
running like a raped ape, being a little stronger
then it did when she rolled out of the factory.

I have 154,000 on my 97 3.9L Dakota. I get 19-20 mpg mixed driving and 22-24 Highway.

197,000 miles, rebuilt the engine at 160,000. I average about 20mpg city.

I get 14 to 16 mpg city and 22 to 24 mpg on highway with my 1988 Dakota.

i have a 94 ext.cab slt dakota, and i have as of right now over 237,000 miles on it with original motor and it doesn't smoke at all, and i still run it very hard "everyday". i wouldn't get rid of it for a new car.

Mine has about 102,000. Mostly sat for about 3 years before I got it from a family member. Replaced the battery and it fired right up. Runs great but mileage sucks.

Coming up on 12000 on my 03 RC.
Was getting 16.5 MPG put on tonneau cover now getting 19.2. Should have done that when I bought it!!!! Next oil change is with Mobil 1.

Dakotas? Cranks but won't start, usually in
damp conditions.

I have 63,000 miles on my 97 Dak Sport 3.9L. I only get 13mpg ... if that! Maybe 14mpg or so on the highway!

I have a little under 63,000 on the motor and I get about 16-18 mixed city and highway driving, it just depends on how hard I drive.
