Subject: Back Fire??? IP: Logged
Message: Alright so I have a 93 Dakota Sport with a 30 series Flowmaster and K&N. I just put a new cap, rotor, and plugs as well as the O2 sensor a thousand miles ago.... Whys does she still back fire so loud between shifts? Its like a gargling blop blop blop and then quites down.... Any clues? Thanks

Message: what did you do to your catalytic converter. if you hollowed it that could be one thing ir somewhere you have a leak in your exhaust which is causing low backpressure. check the gap on your spark plugs. check the cap for carbon deposits (means cap is cracked) other then that I have no ideas I hope I have helped

Message: My dak backfires because of a leak in the exhaust manifold. I would check the seal around the manifolds. I didn't even notice that the back two bolts were completely broke off flush. That's why my 3 chamber "Big Block" series muffler sounds kinda bad. However, it sounds sweet at an idle.
