I am debating on which suspension lift to buy, i do have a limited budget, so i must make a wise choice and that is why i need all your help! I am in between of Fabtech's 2" basic suspension lift which is $119 from Truckperformance.com or their 3" performance lift (same site, same brand) for $594. I have heard of people stretching out 3" kits to 4.5" and thought about doing that. Is there any downside to this? Can i do this on the 2" basic system? What is the difference between the basic (2") and performance (2")? There is a considerable price difference for 1" of lift and would like to know what i am gettin into. Please note that i have a 97 3.9L V6 extended cab 4x2. I wont be doing any serious off roading hence the 4x2, but it will be mostly for looks. Please give any experience in ride quality, the basic QUALITY of the product, and your own personal comments. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Stretching 3 inch fabtech 2wd kits to 4.5? That's crazy and nearly impossible, unless u want to ruin ur ride. I have the 3 inch suspension lift, and it comes with everything u need...front and back. The basic i believe doesn't come with back. I'm not entirely sure but that's what i think based on my past knowledge from last year. basically, the size of tire u want to fit will determine ur lift, and the ride quality u want as well. Let us know what u want, what size and what u want to do with ur truck besides just looks.

2" lift is a leveling lift. makes the front the same height as the back. 3" perfomance lift lifts the truch 3" all the way around.

when they say stretching out they mean for the 4x4's. its when they use a 3inch rancho and tighten the torsion bars to get 4.5

the 2" kit for $119 is just front coil springs. They also have one for $200 that includes front shocks. The 3" kit comes with front coil springs and upper control arms to raise the front 3" and add a leafs for the back to raise the back 1.5 inches. if its only $594 it probably doesnt include shocks unless they lowered the price by $150.
i had the 2" kit and it was good. Raised the truck the right amount and could handle a couple of airborne jumps. I also put a shackle lift lift on the back.

Grab the 3" Suspension Lift and a 2" Body Lift...combine that with 32" BFG A/T (KO) series tires and it's got PLENTY of ground clearance. (Ran that setup for almost 2 years on my '97 Dak 2WD.)
You'll need 4.10:1 gears in the back though...otherwise, it won't get out of its own way.

help i know this does not have anything to do with suspension my 99 dakota keeps blowing the purge solenoid the dealer cant find the problem and my gas milage sucks less than 10 if someone has had this problem before please help me
