Message: This afternoon I did a few more mods to my truck. In addition to the Turbo City intake and DynoMax superturbo muffler, today I added Autolite spark plugs, a V-8 throttle body and I relocated the IAT sensor. (I also put some really cool insulation on the inside of the hood - it's under $60 from Wyckoff - has a neat Ram head embossed on it)...
I took the truck out for a spin afterward and it was a bit more responsive, but the most noticeable thing was how much more smoothly it ran. I hope it will "wake up" more after the computer learns the parts I installed in it.
My point here is to thank the starters and moderators of this board, as well as the people who post here because I NEVER would have tried this stuff before!
Now you guys have me thinking I could tackle removing the clutch fan and putting in better fuel injectors by myself! ; )

Message: Glad you enjoyed doing the mods. If should improve a bit after it learns, but not alot. Also when you go to do the rest of the tune up to get 8mm wires and a brass cap/rotor combo.
Don't forget to do the 180* stat. I am needing to put my injectors back in since I found out they weren't my problem.

Message: Hey Dan,
I can't find a part # right now (I'm at work and theWy) for the insulator or pins to hold it up... but here's the specific name of the part:
"Hood and Grille, Hood and Components, Insulator". the pins required to install it are "Hood and Grille, Hood and Components, Insulator, pins" and they'll say you need 11 of them but there are 13 holes... I need to pick two more up at the local Murray's or something. No big deal, it's not like it needs them but I want to put them in for piece of mind.
Dale, I'm thinking the next round of tuning to be next year. ; ) I'm just glad I got these in before it got cold(er) here in MI. I want to do the thermostat for sure.

Message: Sicminds: What I have is a Turbo City performance intake. (see http://www.turbocity.com/JeepDualAirFilter.htm for more info... I think the single biggest performace upgrade may have been that intake! Jury's still out on the stuff I just did though...) Thank God it wasn't a scam! These guys are very good and nice to deal with. I told them what I had, and they shipped it out. When I had a small problem with the threads on one of the arms being buggered (and subsequently buggering the plastic plug that sealed it off), they mailed out a new plug (I told them I'd tap it out myself...)
Dan: No problemo. I got mine from the same exact Wyckoff you are looking at. Give them a call if you can, tell them you want the under hood insulation from a Durango and they'll do the rest. That's what I did, then I went and looked it up online. Go on to their site and start looking for parts in the "collision" area... That's where all the body type parts are.
It makes a bigger difference than I thought it would. And remember: 13 pins! I still need to get two more pins. ; )

Hey thanks for telling me where to look.
I called them up and they said that they could not say for sure that the insulation had the rams head logo on it or not.
I have a 97 Dakota. What year is yours.
The part number I got for the 97 Dakota hood insulation is 52216161 AC. Is this the same part number you ordered? If not could you please get me the right part number when you get a chance.
Thanks for the info

Message: Hey Dan,
I don't know if that's the part number I got. I don't remember ever seeing a p/n! I will check my packing list at home tonight for you and post what I find (or if I find anything!)
I am going to also email you the GIF of the part I got... I found it under "Durangos", and I think I selected a 1998 or something like that model year.
By the way, ORDER THOSE PINS from Chrysler! I got two replacement pins from Murray's auto parts today for a buck... Not expensive but twice the price of Wyckoff. ; )
Talk to you later.
Oh, I almost forgot. I have a 2002 Dakota Quad Cab. I got it off the lot for a good price last November. It has the pee wee V6 but I'm slowly getting it up to "acceptable" power and acceleration. ; )

Message: Dan,
Got that p/n for you. Actually the one they gave you was the same, only one difference. Here it is:
55216161-AE "Silencer Hoo" (That's exactly what the invoice says)
The 13 pins required to install it are 6504135.
