it seems to be weeker at the bottm
portion of the RPM Scale. Any Suggestions.
And also Headers? Does it matter
what the coating is? Any one know where
a good priced headers are? Truckperformence.com

The ceramic coating on the JBA headers keeps them looking nice over time and they're supposed to keep the engine bay temps down a little. I have the nickel plated on mine and other than turning blue in places (which I like), they still have their shine.

Expect to lose a little more on the bottom end with the headers. Not much, but I noticed a difference. The gains in mid-range and top end are well worth it though.

There's not much that you can bolt on for the bottom end. You can install an under-drive crank pulley and electric fan. This will free up some hp. 1.7 roller rockers are supposed to add some hp to the lower rpm's. And if you want to spend a few more $$, you can "upgrade" your gears to 3:90's (if you don't already have them). The gears will definitely make your Dak leave the line faster ;-)

Want more low end torque? Sounds like you want a blower. If I wasn't getting rid of my Dakota in the spring & buying a disiel I would put one on my 99 Dakota V-6. Because the Stock Dakota V-6 does not have any low end power at all.

skip the blower if you are looking for lowend torque.... it might add it on V8s but when i had that powerdyne to my sixer it really didnt do anything on the bottom end.... it takes too long to add power and is kinda expensive.

A blower would and the most bang at low end if it is a whipple or eaton. At speedtweaks they posted what other forced induction kits add to a 5.9(vortech,powerdyne and kenne-bell). I know it is a different engine but for comparing power gains it works. A centrifugal supercharger is made for top-end power mainly, while the screw type makes torque. "vortech made 8 more ponies but the kenne bell kit made 56 MORE FT-LBS NOW THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.

I don't know if they(eaton kenne bell,magnacharger/eaton) make a kit for your trucks yet or if not you'd have to get pieces and make your own. They don't even make one for my 93 v8 but I am think of get them to send me pieces that would make a kit for a gen3 kit work. The power potential is well worth the trouble. On the whipple site they explain the real difference between their superchargers and ones like vortech's. Just to give you an idea of the potential, a kit on WWW.WHIPPLESUPERCHARGERS.COM that they make for a pt crusier made the power output for the "2.4L 4cyl." jump from:

Hp Peak: 150 @ 5400 to 240 @ 6200 a 90hp increase, that's a 60% increase over stock

Torque Peak: 168 @ 4200 to 259 @ 3200 an increase of 91ft-lbs, a 54% increase over stock

The real important thing to realize is the overall power increase in the driving rpm range Tq Average 3000-5600 RPM 144 FtLbs. 240 Ft./Lbs. up an average 96 ft-lbs or 66% over stock.

Just think of your 3.9 with 50+% increase in HP "AND" TQ. Thats a v6 with around 262hp and 340 ft-lbs. of tq on pump gas. You'll also notice it spread the power band between max hp and max tq, nice for four wheeling!

well i was talking about a powerdyne.... which i noted....which is a centrifugal supercharger. It is the only one that easily adapts to the V6. The roots style wont adapt.... so still no torque. It really only wook up the motor a little bit above 3500 rpms.
